Video Marketing Through YouTube
First things first, let’s get one thing out of the way – videos are the future.
It’s important to realize that now is the time to learn the power of videos. They are picking up speed ridiculously fast and it won’t be long until every internet marketer and his grandma are trying to monetize using video content.
However, also remember this, that if you provide quality videos with top notch content you’ll never have to fear a lack of audience. If one thing is certain it’s that there is a demand for good entertainment, information and performance.
This guide isn’t about how to create a video. This is what to do with the video once you have it. For those of you wondering how to create videos let me put things in perspective.
The only reason you would want to learn how to make videos is if it’s up your alley (you enjoy presenting). Otherwise you’ll most likely find it a painfully daunting task. If this is the case remember that a good internet marketer always outsources work to save themselves
· Time
· Effort
· Money
When outsourcing your videos make sure you see some samples beforehand, voice is very important. Should be calm, relaxed and emotive.
So I’ve Got My Video!
Congratulations, the next step is picking some keywords to rank and optimize your video for. Aim for three or two word keyword.
When you’re picking your keywords look around on Google because you’ll eventually want to get a Google box (will pull in a lot more traffic). See if there are any videos all ready ranked, with enough backlinks and the right strategy (keep reading for more info on this
you can take their spots.
Great, now that you’ve finished the keyword research you’re going to want to change the video file name (before you upload to youtube) to the keyword that you wanna rank for, you’ll find that this alone will help you with the ranking process.
Optimizing Your Video
Once you start uploading your video you’ll be given an optimization page. You’ll have to fill out a Title, Description and keywords. Let’s talk about the best way to optimize each of these areas.
Title: It’s important to put your main keyword at the front of your video, with a title (and secondary keyword if possible) following suite
Example: Video Marketing – What You NEED To Know
Formula: [Keyword] – [Catchy Title + Secondary Keyword (If Possible) ]
This will tell YouTube and Google that you’re content oriented towards those keywords. Also if possible, try to have the keywords spoken within the first bit of the video. Sources have reported that voice technology is all ready being used to identify video content.
Description: The first thing you’re going to want in your description is a link to your website, make sure that the link is short (http://YourSite.com) and that all words in your website are capitalized. Next write a short blurb about what they’ll find, make sure you incorporate your main keyword within the first few words.
Keep writing, think of this as content for your video, don’t hesitate to keep writing (paste an article, this seems to help) using your keywords and inserting link (where necessary).
Keywords: Finally you’ll have the keywords, for YouTube you’ll have to put quotations around the keyword phrases and spaces in between. When entering keywords make sure you try variations of the same keyword phrase but with characters in between,
Example: “video marketing” “video-marketing” “what is video marketing” “what is VM?” “VM”
You want to cover as many keywords as possible. A great way to find the top keywords in your niche is to view the top 5 videos and write down keywords that they feature. Then combine them all and you’ll have some killer keywords.
However research your own first to cross reference for best results.
Your Video Is Uploaded
Now that your video is uploaded hopefully filled with yummy keywords that you’ve picked out. The next step is not to just let it sit and mellow but to start a very subtly and powerful ranking process.
The key here is to keep repeating this until your video has taken over the #1 in YouTube and Google, make sure you don’t over do it, follow the time frames specified here (or mess around at your own risk, be an entrepreneur! But don’t get sandboxed
.
1. Your video is uploaded – Bookmark it with proper keywords @ ping.fm
2. Write up three articles of three hundred words with different but similar keywords. Submit one copy of each to EzineArticles.com, GoArticles.com, ArticlesBase.com, Squidoo, Blogger every 2-3 days. Then use Ping.fm to social bookmark the properties.
3. Get a free (and completely awesome drip feeder) account at IMAutoMator.com, use it on all of the properties that you make (you receive 10 free daily submissions so use them up every day!).
Alternate between 30 days for some and 90 days for others. I would suggest longer for your main link as it will appear more natural because all of the surrounding links will steadily be gaining power for 30 days, then the main link will still have juice trickling in long after they are done.
4. Set up Facebook and Twitter fan pages, hook up your video with these so you’ll get automatic linkbacks every time you post a video. If you keep posting quality content you can grow in authority on both these websites and hopefully have people spread your content, very powerful if done correctly.
5. This is an optional step but one that I always take. One of the ranking factors in videos is their views and whether they’re being found or not. To just generate tons of views is difficult which is why I actually use a service on all my videos to send an initial burst of traffic.
This helps tremendously with the ranking process.
That’s it for the ranking process. Keep this up and treat every article, lens and property that you make with dignity and respect, you only have to make ONE per day and then social bookmark it (and ping it aswell), so don’t forget to add pictures (with proper keywords), videos (also with keywords) and to link to a major website apart from yours.
How To Naturally Pull In Views
While you’re waiting for the SEO process you might get bored and start wishing you had some activity. The great thing is that the YouTube community is pretty responsive.
My suggestion is to start commenting on niche related videos. But before you start commenting on everything you see do one thing first. In your channel set it up so that the video you want promoted is set to auto play everytime somebody loads up your channel.
We will be directing people to your channel with the desired video being featured because that will entice them to subscribe, comment and befriend your profile more.
When you’re looking for niche related videos just comment on the related videos that pop up with yours. A small note of warning;
make sure that you leave the video on until it’s over otherwise YouTube will sense you are posting too many comments too fast and your comment abilities will be temporarily suspended.
So when it comes to comments remember as with many other hobbies: use but don’t abuse.
Also make sure your comments are relevant to the video, be honest, truthful and informative when possible. Don’t push people to check out your videos but it’s all right to mention it every once in a while.
You can comment on more then just videos though, the most effective method I’ve found is to go directly to users profiles and to subscribe, friend request them and then leave a comment there complimenting their content and page.
If you leave a nice enough comment (add more details but base it around a compliment, because people love being complimented!) you can promote your page on their site, an example of a post would be;
Hey Jim,
I checked out some of your videos and I’m impressed by the level of professionalism you bring to the table.
I just subscribed, looking forward to more great content!
You should come check out some of my videos by the way, I also do a lot of stuff in the ‘your market keyword’ area.
-Sam.
A simple example of all it takes to generate some clicks towards your profile and another subscriber + friend (added naturally), believeme, social intereaction plays a HUGE part in the authority indexing at YouTube.
The more videos you add and the more you interact with the community the more you will start coming up in the searches. You will rarely see an account with just one video which is super popular, most often they will have multiple.
So don’t get discouraged if your videos don’t instantly pop up. Keeping following the ranking plan provided and interacting with the community. Try to upload a new video with original, fresh and quality content at least every two to three days, or if possible daily.
When you reach twenty videos you can slow this down but the ideal is to break 50 and eventually 100, by that time you will have videos which are ranked and practically all the videos you put up will gain both natural and organic views.
YouTube Marketing Monetization
There are a number of ways to monetize with YouTube. To list just some of them;
1. CPA
2. EMAIL SUBMITS
3. YouTube Partner Program
4. Affiliate Marketing
5. Generating Leads/Building A List
And I won’t explain each one but to be successful in any of them what you require is good content. Good doesn’t mean expensive, it means that it delivers on the title and whoever is watching will be satisfied.
All though these steps aren’t the easiest to take they are the ones that work. Remember to mellow out and relax, this is a gradual process, don’t rush it. Just let it happen and it will happen.
Don’t go around counting your backlinks, checking your SERPs, just keep building your backlinks until you see that spike in traffic. Use that money to re-invest into new videos and expand your networks.
Always re-invest and keep working, never stop and you will see increase in money. Don’t get comfortable, your account could be banned so always play by the rules and keep your content user friendly, helpful and non spammy.
With that being said, go ahead and implement what’s been said in the guide. It can all be summarized within 5 main points of action;
1. Get an original video
2. Optimize for chosen keywords
3. Follow ranking process
4. Send views
5. Interact with community
Follow these 5 points of action, repeating the top 3-5 until results are obtained. No more then 1 property + 1 social bookmark directly to video per day.
