Top 25 Success Secrets – Positive Attitude

Today is the first in a series of 25 articles that may just be some of the most important you will ever read. In going back over my 7 plus years of marketing online, I have come to realize that there are a number of things that have contributed to my success. And of these things, there are 25 that I feel are absolutely critical to success. I am going to start off with the bottom of the list and work my way to the top…kind of like those musical countdown shows. Don’t you just love them? Anyway, we kick this series off with number 25 which is developing a positive attitude.

Yeah, I know…easier said than done. And yes, it IS easier said than done. In fact, developing a positive attitude is one of the hardest parts of the process for several reasons.

One reason is your own doubts. You’re starting something absolutely brand spanking new. You’ve never run a home business before. All your life you’ve worked for the man and now, suddenly, you’re on your own. That can be a scary thought for most people. The uncertainty of success and the fear of failure make it very hard to have a positive attitude. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Next, unless you live all by yourself, is your family and friends. You know the ones I’m talking about. The ones who say to you, day after day, “Why are you doing this? Don’t you know this make money stuff is a scam? You’re wasting your time. You’ll never make any money doing this.”

And the negative comments go on and on until you actually start to believe them. Take my word for it, nobody can keep a positive attitude forever when they have the whole world telling them what a failure they are.

Finally, you have plain old statistics. It’s true that a large percentage (I don’t think anybody really knows the exact number) of home businesses fold up in the first year or two. I think it’s in the high 90s but don’t quote me. Point is, it’s high. Many people DO fail and that makes it very difficult to develop a positive attitude.

Okay, so what do we do about all these problems? Well, let’s take the first one…fear of failure.

So what? So you fail? If that’s the worst thing that can happen you haven’t really lost anything. You’re just back where you started from. And the truth is, you don’t REALLY fail until you give up. So throw caution to the wind. Go for it! What have you got to lose?

As for the family and friends, block them out. Tell them point blank that you don’t want to hear their negativity. If they can’t support you, tell them to just keep quiet. You have to lay down the law or these people will make you feel like a loser. Don’t let them.

As for the statistics, well, you know what they say about statistics. You DON’T have to be one. You can be one of the successful ones. If everybody who believed in stats didn’t try because the odds were stacked against them, how many REALLY successful people would we NEVER have heard of?

Don’t be a statistic! Be YOU.

There you have it. If this doesn’t build up your self confidence then read something that will. Go watch the “Pride Of The Yankees” or whatever movie inspires you.

In the next installment of this series, we will tackle number 24…making friendships.

See you then.

To YOUR Success,
