Top 25 Success Secrets – Planning

In the last installment of Top 25 Success Secrets, we hit number 4 in our top 10, advertising. If you haven’t read that article, I strongly suggest you go back and read it after you have finished with this article.

In this installment, we hit number 3 in our hit parade…planning. There is an old saying that goes like this.

“Those who fail to plan, plan to fail.” It’s an old cliche but it’s quite true. Without proper planning, you might as well take your whole business and flush it down the toilet.

But why is planning so important? Can’t you just head on over to Clickbank, pick a product to promote, write a few articles, submit them to some directories and make a few bucks? Sure you can, and in fact, as crappy a plan as that is, it’s still a plan.

The key is, the MORE you plan, the better your results are going to be.

Now, a plan in itself doesn’t have to be overly complicated. Some of the simplest plans are the most successful provided that you put the necessary work into them to make them successful.

For example, let’s take our crappy plan of just heading on over to Clickbank, picking a product and writing some articles that send people to the sales page to HOPEFULLY make some sales. Ironically, this is a plan that many people use and do quite well with. However, the ones who do very well are the ones who expand on this plan a bit.

For example, instead of just sending prospects directly to a sales page, the article marketer uses an intermediate step of sending the prospect to a review page of the product. This presells the prospect and makes them more likely to purchase the product.

Others will take that plan one step further. They’ll send the prospect to an opt in page where they’ll offer information related to the niche itself. From there, after collecting their email and building a list from it, they’ll send them to the review page as a the next step in the process.

And there are many things you can do to expand on this plan even more. You can add backlinking duties to the mix in order to get your opt in page or review page higher up the search engines.

Point is, you can’t just wake up one day and say, “I want to make some money”, go to some random site, sign up for their “miracle in a box” program and expect to just wing it and make money. You need to have some kind of a plan…no matter how simple it might be. Again, it doesn’t have to be complex to be effective.

That’s the reason why I have planning so high up on my list. Every single little thing I do with my business is completely planned out from the start to the finish. I have a checklist for each task that has to be completed in order to implement that plan. I also have an overall plan for my business in general with goals that I want to reach each week, month, quarter and year. That way I know if I’m on target or not.

Some say I’m obsessed with my business. I say I’m simply a planner, which has been a huge contributor to my success.

It can be to YOUR success too.

To YOUR Success,
