Top 25 Success Secrets – Establishing Credibility
Posted by Steven Wagenheim on October 10, 2010 in GeneralIn the last installment of Top 25 Success Secrets, I talked about focus…something that a lot of marketers have problems with. If you missed that article, please go back and read it. I think you’ll get a lot out of it. In this installment, I’m going to talk about establishing credibility. Without it, you have very little chance of succeeding. This article will show you some ways to get it.
Establishing credibility is one of those things, unfortunately, that takes time. You don’t get it overnight unless you are extremely lucky or have some kind of miracle product. And usually, that kind of fast credibility also comes with a lot of scrutiny. Okay, so how exactly DO you go about establishing credibility?
Well, one of the best ways is to have somebody else who already HAS that kind of credibility endorse you in some way. Personally, I’ve found that the best way to do this is to have this person interview you.
A couple of years ago (actually, it might be longer as my memory is pretty bad LOL) I was interviewed on BlogTalkRadio by Willie Crawford. Now, people may have not known my name at that point in time, but they sure as heck knew Willie’s. Having somebody of that stature interview you is a big thing, and I have no doubt that it contributed to my continued success.
Of course if you’re not up for live radio interviews, you can always do a text interview. I’ve written a number of biographies of myself and step by step plans that other well known marketers have included in their products. This is another way to establish credibility.
But establishing credibility through a third party is not the only way. You can do quite a bit on your own. For example, that radio interview I told you about? There is no reason why you can’t start your own radio show. Share some information on it that helps other people. If these people try out your little tips and find out that they actually work, this will go a long way to establishing yourself as a person who knows his craft…whatever it may be.
Setting up your own blog or web site is another way to establish credibility. With a lot of people, just seeing that you have a a personalized web site gives you instant credibility. I know it sounds silly to you, but to the non Internet marketer, a web site means you’re legit. So very few people get this.
Providing free reports and downloads is yet another way to establish credibility. The more you give people, the more they’ll trust you. And that is ultimately what we’re after. We want our market to trust us. If they see us as a credible source, they’re more likely to trust us.
Finally, a seal of some kind, like a BBB seal is a great way to establish credibility. Many people, when they see an approved seal, immediately think “credible.” And no, they don’t just give those seals away. You have to earn them.
Anyway, there you have it. Some great ways to establish credibility for YOUR business.
To YOUR Success,
Steven Wagenheim
