The importance of keyword research part 2

After 2 weeks of optimising my website to rank highly for these keywords

“michigan seo business driven technology”
“michigan seo solutions”
“michigan seo target marketing”
“michigan seo expert”

I have analysed the data I have been receiving back from Google Analytic, Awstats and Rank checker to find that the only keyword that I have been receiving a noticeable amount of traffic for is “Michigan SEO target marketing” which currently sends to my website approximately 5-7 unique views a day all of which are largely targeted to my website and stay on my website for an average of 18 minutes.

This jumped out to be extremely high amount of time to stay on my website for a keyword which is not pin point exact to what my website’s niche is. However there is no other way I can explain the large amount of time other than someone perhaps has come on to my website and left their computer on with my website displayed and perhaps gone to do something else.

I started this experiment believing that these statistics shown to me through both SEO Books keyword tracker and the free keyword tracker were largely inaccurate and as I have progressed through the experiment it has become clear that this is correct. Dismissing the anomaly this being “Michigan SEO target marketing” the other 3 keywords have not sent me any noticeable traffic at all.

However I shall keep going with the experiment for another month, until I am on the first page for each keyword. I may have to put a bit more effort in optimising my website for these keywords however I feel it will be worth it in the end, so I am able to give my readers a 100% accurate report back on these keywords and the traffic they bring.
