Set yourself aims to achieve your overall goals

You wouldn’t target “Internet marketing” if you had a brand new website, you would break it down in to less competitive keywords. So why focus on the long term goals, break them down too, in to easier short term goals which are achievable.

Your long term goal maybe to have a website which ranks in the top ten for Internet Marketing along with many others, receives 10,000 unique views a day and earns more than $100 per day. It’s a realistic goal that can be achieved; however why not break this goal down in to smaller aims and objectives. These objectives could be to achieve 100 unique views per day within the first month of your website being live. It could also be to earn more than $10 per week from your website within the first month and to have targeted and ranked for less competitive long tail keywords related to internet marketing.

The advantages of breaking your long term goals down in to short term aims are

• That it enables you to clear your mind of the overall goal. You can concentrate on achieving your short term aim which will in turn bring you closer to your overall goal.

• Having short term aims will allow you to focus more, release pressures that your overall goal may bring you and stresses.

• They will also help to motivate you, as you achieve your short term aims they will help to reassure you that your website is going in the right direction.

• Short term aims will help to keep you stay on track and not drift from your overall goals.

• Keep track of your growth, allowing you to see which strategies have been most effective.

• Implement strategies and tactics for each short term aim helping to achieve your overall goal.

Once you have achieved one short term aim, you can move on to another aim and keep going until you have reached your overall goal. Having short term aims are a great idea, especially with in the internet market. With a market which shifts daily short term aims can help to stay on top of these changes and helps to ensure you can take advantage of every opportunity the internet gives you.

I myself use short term aims to bring me closer to my overall goals for my website. Using short term aims I am able to concentrate on achieving these, using many different strategies which I have learnt through reading forums and other websites.
