My Internet Goals for 2009

Internet Goals for 2009

I would of liked to of started this article with a look at whether I had achieved my goals set for 2008 however I never actually made any goals for 2008 or for any other year before. Thinking about it now perhaps this is what has been stopping me from really growing my blog perhaps its the fact that although I may have goals in mind I have never actually written them down so I am able to look over them again and again, to take a minute and consider how far I have travelled with my goals throughout that year. So this year I have decided to write my goals down as well as bullet pointing the ways I intend on getting there.

I have spoken before about setting yourself aims so you can achieve overall goals and whether they be goals for your websites or goals for your job, marriage or anything else they are important and should never be put aside.

I have been planning on writing this article for the past couple of days now and come to think of it…it would of probably been more effective to have posted this on December 31st. However I didn’t want to rush this article and although it wont be as long as many of my other articles written on my blog it does have as much meaning if not to you, to myself. I plan on using this article as a set in stone check list for the next year and instead of making these goals just relevant to this one blog I will be making them relevant to my overall Internet career.

Now lets get on with my goals.

  1. To reach 1,000 RSS subscribers.
  2. To reach a four figure income monthly throughout my Internet Portfolio.
  3. To reach 20 comments on average per post on this blog.
  4. To increase traffic ten fold on this blog.
  5. To reach 60% search engine traffic for this blog.
  6. To widen my network of blogging friends.
  7. To develop and set up my SEO services website.
  8. To increase posting frequency to a stable 5 posts per week.

These are my overall Internet goals for this year and to some they may not sound like much, for example reaching 1,000 RSS subscribers but I believe a goal should be achievable it shouldn’t be something farfetched and unrealistic it should be something that you believe could be achieved by pushing yourself. Now dependant on my traffic circumstances this could be a goal easily achieved or one that will take a lot of time and effort. I suppose we shall see in the future.

I plan on reaching my goals in several different ways in brief these are

Social Media Marketing

With my increased attention on Stumbleupon, Twitter and Sphinn as well as a new interest in Squidoo I plan on using these sites as tools to increase my visibility throughout the Internet and target specific areas of interest these obviously being Internet marketing.

SEO

Link building is going to be a major focus of mine this year both internal and external. With the change of my site design this will help me build links internally throughout my blog and I think I have finally sorted out the internal link structure to something which now be effective.

Externally I plan on increasing the amount of links I have through article marketing, social media marketing and forums mainly.

Guest Posting

An internet marketing technique I have always been interested in but never used I plan on writing one article a week to a different blog for increased visibility towards a target market. This will hopefully lead to increased readership and attention which will hopefully spread amongst some of the main Internet marketing blogs.

These are the three main techniques I plan to use this year for this blog alone. They may not seem like much but they do take time both Social media marketing and SEO are very time consuming, with guest posting you just need to write the article. However if you have not got a killer article idea already or you lack in writing skills then you may find it much more difficult than it can be.

Hope you enjoyed reading this article, tomorrow will bring you the seventh edition of 11 things to consider before you start blogging.

What are your Internet goals for 2009? Have you created yours yet or have you decided not to, do they extend to being general goals for 2009 or are they specific to just the Internet. Why not leave a comment and tell us.
