Mozilla Firefox world record
Posted by Will Blears on October 10, 2008 in GeneralThe official launch day of the new Mozilla Firefox 3 is today, Mozilla would like to attempt to set a guiness world record for the most downloads of software in one single day.
Update
Its over after 24 hours of extremely high bandwidth Mozilla Firefox were able to successfully enable over 8 million people to download the new Firefox 3 in 24 hours.
Mozilla Firefox download day started yesterday at 17.00 hours and were able to in 24 hours advertise and promote there software to over 8 million users.
It is not yet known whether Firefox have broken the record, as the people at Guiness world records are currently reviewing the attempt and obviously ensuring it was all legitimate.

Update 2
As I mentioned early on last week the Mozilla world record attempt was being calculated and reviewed.
Well the news is back and it turns out that the people at Mozilla now successfully hold a Guinness World Record for the most software downloaded in 24 hours.
The figure stands at 8,002,530 people downloaded Firefox 3 within the 24 hours, a massive amount of people.
This is a great achievement and i am glad to have been a part of the world record
