How Your Website Can Get You Success

Posted by Will Blears on October 10, 2008 in SEO Tutorials

Oh we all know that SEO works and bulk submission and strong linking can increase your ranking and all that. But there are several other small but very important things that go unnoticed. Usually, none of your efficient virtual consultants will tell you about all this. They may or may not focus on these aspects. As the person who owns the website, you should know some things. Concentrate on these to actually get the success you want. Let me tell you 3 of those little secrets.

Web site design: simplify, not complicate!

Building an impressive web site does not mean merely adding graphics, sound, colour and complicating your web site. You have the web site so that customers will get online and read the contents! But what’s the point of spending a fortune on web site design if it scares away visitors? Stick to the point and don’t mess up your web site with irrelevant ads, clocks and counters and music! Use sound and extra graphics only if it serves some purpose, say if you are an advertising agency.

Page content: refreshing and up-to-date

You want to have all the hottest keywords on your web site. Do that, but not at the cost of good content. Ultimately, it is the good content that will bring visitors again and again. Even accidental visitors may actually read through your site if it has some nice content to offer. Keywords bring visitors, but content makes them stay a while and read! Do not complicate the language. Give them easy to grasp information, little at a time. Don’t overstuff your site. Time the article well. Talk in general, use short, crisp sentences and make sure the content doesn’t deviate from the topic. Use highlighting when needed, to catch attention. Most people glance at the article as a whole. Make the content easy to read, with good punctuation and direct sentences. Use the space well.

Good publicity: popularise well

Make sure your web site gets good visibility. Submit well. Also make sure that you don’t have irrelevant links. Bad links can hurt your popularity. Get to the social networking sites, or create blogs and get your web site seen by the right kind of target traffic.

There you are! These are the basics of any successful web site. See what a difference you can make now.
