Whilst planning this article I was considering just writing a simple step by step tutorial explaining the best ways to SEO a proxy site. However whilst doing this I decided that it may benefit my readers more if I was to test the use of SEO on a proxy site.

How to stick to your Posting Frequency

How to stick to your Posting Frequency

Previously I have spoken about the frequency of posting on a Blog, why it is important to set a posting rate from the day your Blog is created and what factors should be taken in to consideration when deciding the posting frequency, but now I would like to talk about how you can stick to that posting frequency.

I shall be discussing the few strategies I have used to stick to my posting frequency, strategies I have implemented through my time blogging and whether they have worked or not.

Firstly lets just go over why it is important to stick to your publishing frequency;

Why is it important to stick to your posting Frequency?

A posting frequency that is always met helps a Blog grow, it helps the Author plan their days and it helps readers to understand when new content will be available. As well as this it looks more professional to see publishing dates that follow a certain pattern, and it also ensures unsubscribers are limited.

There are many strong points as to why sticking to a posting frequency is important and thats why I feel it is essential that you ensure that your posting plan is realistic. It is a frequency that you can handle as a Blogger whether your part time or full time. It is better to make your readers expect a personally realistic posting frequency from day one instead of you letting them down half way through.

Writing for the Future

If your like me and you’ve not got a day to day schedule then it may be best to write articles for the future. I never really know for sure when I will be on the computer and when I wont be, this is mainly because I am at University and things change every day however it doesn’t help when I need to ensure I write articles a certain amount of articles each week for my Blog.

If your in a similiar situation or you just know for sure that your not able to write an article for a certain date, then why not write it ahead of schedule? The best strategy I ever used was writing 7 days ahead of schedule, I would write next Mondays article, the Monday before this helped me stay organised, de-stressed and ahead of time just incase any unforeseen event occured, such as a University flat party or Night out…you know the important events (only joking, my readers are always first).

Obviously to be able to write 7 days ahead of schedule you need a couple of things, firstly the article ideas for 7 days in advance. This shouldn’t be a difficult task to complete, having article ideas for 7 days in advance should be an easy task. If it isn’t an easy task for you, then perhaps you have chosen the wrong market to create a Blog in.  I have spoken about ensuring that your market has enough to write about before, if your in a situation where the topics you can write about are limited then perhaps it would be more beneficial for you to reconsider your market.

The second thing you need is the time to write the articles in advance, in my case this is usually possible between each University term. However if your not at University and you don’t have much time of then perhaps you need to take advantage of when your in the mood for writing. You know, those days when you can just write and keep on writing with out having to think of how to word something or structure a paragraph. Those days should be taken advantage of 100%, personally when these days come along I can write 1,000’s of words which may cover several different articles without actually feeling tired or drained.

To write for the future you need to make sure you have the article ideas ready and secondly you need to have the time to write those articles for the future, one day should take care of this.

Schedule Posting

Now this isn’t a strategy for creating your content however it is a strategy for ensuring that your posts are published each week. Schedule posting is a setting which you can use on any Wordpress Blog. It allows you to save an article and set your Blog to automatically publish it another day or even another month.

The advantages of this are if you are going on holiday and you have no access to your Blog then instead of letting your Blog go dormant for a week or two you can write your posts for the future and then set each post to be published on a date in the future.

It is an excellent setting which can help you stick to your posting frequency as well as ensuring that your Blog does not fall in to the catergory of being a dormant/dead Blog whilst your off sun bathing or skiing.

In conclusion it is best to pick a posting frequency which is both beneficial to your Blog and realistic to yourself. You don’t want to over do your posting frequency and let down your readers by not being able to handle the frequency but you also want a frequency which will satisfy your readers and encourage them to subscribe.

To ensure you meet your posting frequency you can write your posts for the future and also set dates for your articles to be published.

I hope you enjoyed this article as much as I did writing it. If you have any other suggestions for sticking to a posting frequency I would love to read them, you can post them below.

Before I started my blog I tried to outline what the first 16 posts would be. I figured that would put me 4 months in with a post a week. The outlines make it easy to write the next post and keeps everything organized and a certain flow.

Once I get to #8, I will try and add one to the end. That way I will always have 8 post outlines ready to go. It takes a lot of pressure off in the mornings knowing I have already started the structure if not most of the post.

As I have blocked off the first 2 hours of each morning to work on a specific blog (Wed. are Mitchendise) so I specifically do not use the schedule posting option because then I would have an excuse to stay in bed. It will be quite handy if I ever take a vacation or business trip though.

    Hi Everyone,

know what I have to do the get it to show up in a search. Right now it’s somewhere in the yahoo/google netherworld (LOL).

Is there someone on here that can give me some insight or know of anyone that coud give me insight on how I can get my local website on the front
page of a Yahoo or Google search to increase my business without it costing me 5 or 10k $$$? If so please share with me.

I thank you and my hungry over-eating children thank you.
