How To Properly Submit Articles
Article Marketing – The Lurking Giant
Article marketing is considered to be pretty out dated now to be honest. However there’s still a fair bit of traffic and money within it, which makes it a viable source of income - regardless of how out dated it is.
The problem is that there still (even after all these years) seem to be marketers out there who don’t know how to properly submit articles.
And if you’re not properly submitting your articles it’s the equivalent of shooting yourself in the foot. Doing it right could be the difference between grabbing a keyword or not showing up at all.
With that being said, know this, I’m not trying to scare you – far from it. I’m demonstrating the power of doing it right as opposed to doing it wrong. To prevent you from making article submissions mistakes again, keep reading and I’ll explain exactly how to properly submit articles.
How To Properly Submit Articles – Full Guide Starts Here
To start things off you’ll need an account, through this guide I’ll be using ezinearticles.com.
The first thing to do is to pick an author (your pen name), which will appear as the publisher of the article. Next you’ll find the most appropriate category and specify a sub category, make sure you check all of the choices, all though this typically doesn’t do much for SEO, certain categories will get your more free ‘ezine’ traffic then others.
Article Summary/Description: Here you’re going to need to write a short blurb detailing your article, people WILL see this. Make sure it’s short n’ sweet and also incorporate your keyword within the first sentence.
Article Body: Take the time to customize your article, add in some headings/subheadings, underline and bold certain parts (to show the reader what’s important), add a list and split it up so it looks pretty. Don’t get lazy, presentation is IMPORTANT!
Keywords: This is where you enter in your keywords. I suggest entering 3 closely related keywords (i.e puppy dog training, how to train a puppy dog, dog training) which will SEO cross reference together the best.
The Resource Box – Make It Count!
What are resource boxes? Basically the resource box is your shot to glory, it’s where you’ve got a small bit of text to make a pitch to the prospective reader.
You get to put in 1-3 links (depending on site) into the resource box which will allow the reader to click through to your main site.
Anchor Text: The highlighted text within a resource box (the link) is known as the anchor text. Typically people will use their keywords in the anchor text for further SEO purposes. However it’s good to mix up the anchor texts that you use as too much of the same anchor text could be viewed as spamming.
For these reasons, it’s important that the resource box is done correctly to ensure a high CTR (click through ratio) which can be viewed by going into ‘Author Tools’ > ‘View My Ezine Reports’.
Resource Boxes Are Important!
Because of this, I want to take a little extra time explaining resource boxes and a few strategies you can employ when writing them. Remember that a good resource box is short n’ sweet – TO THE POINT. 50 words give or take 15.
What makes a resource box strong is the call to action. Which directs the prospect where to go, it tells them what they need to know and it focuses their desires to get them to take action.
Potential Techniques To Implement;
#1 Spark Their Curiosity
When writing a resource box it’s always good to create a sense of curiosity about the information that you’ve got to share. So for a weight loss product something like this could do the trick;
Discover how I lost 83 lbs over 9 weeks using this top secret weight loss method.
That would be a good hook for a resource box, resource boxes like this typically spark the most interest and highest CTR.
#2 Provide A Personal Opinion
If the article you wrote is informative it’s best to just nudge them in the right direction and not over sell. Sometimes it’s best to simply suggest another place for them to search.
If you’re still not sure which car is right for you then why not head on over to used cars sales to find the perfect car for you.
A little more laid back, but still very effective.
#3 The Double Call To Action
This is a must in all resource boxes, considering most sites will allow you two links you have to know this. Only the first anchor text is counted towards SEO points, the second one isn’t counted because it’s a link off the same page (doesn’t matter how many times you link from one page, it’s still only one page).
With this knowledge you can make your first anchor text with the keyword, but the second with the purpose to get the prospect through (2 call to actions always better than one). Using two in succession is a GREAT way to increase the power of your resource boxes.
If you’re tired of waking up tired every morning why not get sleep disorder solvers, getting a solid nights sleep has never been easier CLICK HERE to find out how.
So in this resource box the main focus is the ‘CLICK HERE’ and the first link is used solely as an anchor text. Keep in mind that the page source code is crawled from top to bottom, so the top link should generally be directed towards the money site with the main keyword.
The bottom one can be more of a catcher to increase the resource boxes reach.
So Remember
To Properly Submit An Article You Need
· A good description incorporating the keyword within the first sentence.
· A well formatted article body which is presentable to the reader.
· Properly selected, mutually beneficial keywords.
· A short n’ sweet resource box with a strong call to action, employing curiosity, subtly pushing the prospect or a double call to action (or all 3) to increase the effectiveness that it provides.
So keep all these points in mind when submitting an article and remember that doing it right will yield much higher results then doing it wrong.
It’s worth the extra effort, and if you don’t feel like doing it yourself you can always outsource the task, just make sure that whoever you outsource to follows the right procedures on how to submit an article.

submitting articles is a great way to gain more back links, thanks for the useful pot..
