Grow your Blog through your Unique Selling Point

Blogging is becoming increasingly competitive, with more people turning to blogging as a way of earning money and a way of expressing themselves it is becoming harder and harder to stand out among the crowd. With this in mind the best way you can stand out among the crowd is by being unique, but how can you be unique? In this article I shall be explaining how you can make your blog stand out among the crowd, how you can make the spotlight shine down on you and how this will affect your blog.

What does it mean to be Unique?

Firstly I want to clarify what it means to be unique; personally I believe that to be unique you stand out among the crowd however I also believe that everyone is unique. Everyone has their own personality no matter how similar two people can seem they will still have their differences their uniqueness. Uniqueness is what makes us as humans different, our looks, our humour, our thoughts and our opinions these are all unique to us.

Now if you put this in to the context of a blog it is the exact same. A blog is unique, as soon as it has been developed it is unique. There will never be two blogs identical because there are always characteristics that make blogs different and above all else the domain name could never be the same.

If you put these two together both yourself and your blog then you make something that is completely unique and perhaps this is something you can promote. The point I am trying to make here is that internet marketers, bloggers and many others are always saying that you should promote your blog through its unique selling point well we as humans are the unique selling point of a blog. We offer what no one else can offer and that is our voice, the experiences and the opinions that we can share.

I always try to add my experiences and opinions in to all of my articles because thats what will make my content unique and overall thats what makes my blog unique, it is me. This is what you should do, don’t worry whether people will agree with you or not, its your opinion and everyone else is intitled to their own. Add your experiences to your articles, share your thoughts and guide others along, readers will feel that you are being more personal and will appreciate your help.

Highlight your Unique Selling Point

As I have just explained your unique selling point is most likely to be yourself there are obviously other unique selling points that you can market through your blog and others may work better for you depending what your blog is about.

The best way of highlighting your unique selling point is to take a look at your blog and take a look at other blogs in your market compare them and see what differences you can see. Try looking at some very successful blogs in your market and compare those to your blog and other blogs at various levels of development. Pin point what it is exactly that attracts readers to the successful blogs, is it the author, the way they write, offers and incentives that they use or something else? A major player in the success of blogs in the internet marketing field seems to be timing however other blogs have geniunenly excellent writers and authors who are able to grip the readers attention from the start and make the articles entertaining and informative. If you can’t find a unique selling point of your blog then perhaps its time you created one, although you can use yourself it may be more beneficial to create one focused on your target market.

Once you have highlighted the unique selling point of your blog write it down and ensure that no other blog has this unique selling point or else its not really unique and it wont work.

Promote your blog through the Unique Selling Point

The next stage is to use the unique selling point that you found or created in the second part and advertise your blog with this unique selling point across the internet.

You need to gain visibility throughout the internet in places where potential readers may visit, for example other more popular blogs, forums and through internet marketing techniques such as article marketing and blog commenting.

Your main goal is to capture the interests of your market with your unique selling point, advertise it and advertise it well. Create excellent banners and slogans that focus on your unique selling point and grasps the readers attention.
