Google Pagerank has been updated
Posted by Will Blears on December 12, 2008 in Google ArticlesHey guys, well it seems in just 24 hours Google has pretty much updated most peoples websites with their new pagerank badge.
I was expecting the pagerank update to be seen in the early days of January but instead it seems Google just couldn’t wait. If yours has not yet updated then perhaps give it a little longer, new websites may not of been covered by the update either.
All in all I am happy with the update, although back-links used to be a pagerank 3 because of the change in design and changes in the link structure it has hit the sites pagerank pretty hard with the home page now being at 2. However internal pages have started to see there page rank reappear with many pages being 2′s and 1′s.
How about you, are you pleased with the update?

It has been updated and i was shocked that it lowered my pagerank by 1.
Thanks for sharing the news. That means people will have to change their lists of directories and social bookmarking sites
ohh, well my site pr has still not got updated, I think will have to wait
SheepTech remains at PR2, but I’ve notice one internal post gets a 2 too.
But then, PR doesn’t really matter these days, unless you are depending on it to sell ad space.
Thanks everyone for your replies.
@Charles, this happens a lot don’t get too annoyed by the pagerank drop. As I have stated in many other articles pageranks importance has never been a big one altough there is a lot of fuss over pagerank throughout the years. Most of this attention comes from new players to Internet marketing and others who use pagerank to indicate a link selling price for their particular blog.
Keep writing, selling and be productive.
@Jeet your exactly right, I am guessing most of the more professional and well respected bookmarking sites and directories have some sort of automatic tool to do this for them though. Hopefully.
@Ajay it can take some time, something you might want to consider is whether your website or webpage has been available to Google for long enough to be ranked. You will find many pages of this site still with an N/A tag as Google has not got round to ranking the page yet.
@Vincent Its a good sign if your site is starting to get internal pages ranked this means your link structure may be working or the page in question has had considerably more attention compared to others.
Pagerank has lost its importance like I have talked about in other articles. Your exactly right many ad sellers depend on PR they are about the only people that do.
hey dear you r right i have check our site rank it is now 2 from 1 thanks for info
@ Yunus congratulations on your page rank increase. No problems
does change in a sites design and structure effect negatively to the sites pr or ranking ?
My personal blog are update in blog 3. I will go forward to get better pagerank to my niche blog. How long period Google will update the PR? every 2 months?
Changes in a websites design or structure can affect a websites search engine ranking significantly, dependant on whether you improve the design or make it worse. Generally, if you make any large changes to a website the search engine rankings will be affected but usually its only a short term change.
When I changed the web theme of this Blog, my rankings fell for approximately 1 month however now they have rebuilt. This again can have the same affects on PR, however PR is generally affected by changes in the URL, so a redirect is necessary.
Google usually updates every 3 months, however within the past 9 months Google has been a little less “on time” so to speak, changing the predicted times that they update. I would expect another update most definitely in the next 2 months.
Thank you for your comments.
