Ezine Articles Explained
This is the second part of my 7 steps to Article Marketing series where I shall be explaining where you can submit your articles, from the general directories to the niche directories. I will also be talking about Ezine articles which will include a step by step guide to maximising traffic with Ezine articles where I shall be discussing how to maximise traffic through Ezine articles.
Since the first article directory was created article marketing was born this lead the way to hundreds and hundreds of new article directories being created. Some of these were just complete copies of previously created sites and others targeted a more niche area however only a couple stood above the rest. There are several Article Directories that I have used in the past and still use til this day and these are;
The most popular Article Directory, you have to sign up here however after you have done your able to submit up to 10 articles until your account is upgraded.
Go Articles is another excellent directory and although my traffic has never been very substantial from here I do receive a small trickle of traffic which has helped me. As well as this Go Articles accept articles straight away so your able to start benefiting from article marketing straight away.
Idea Marketers is my second favourite Article Directory after Ezine articles the submission process is excellent and you are able to really optimise your articles before you submit them. As well as this the traffic I have received from this site has been very good considering its a less popular directory.
Article Dashboard is another great directory, the article submission process is excellent and you are able to include the general details that are usually found when submitting directories.
Article City is probably my least favourite directory however because its speed I am still currently using it.
Article Base is another one that I particular like for its fast submission and ease of use.
Buzzle, well I have only used Buzzle several times and you may wonder why considering I usually get a decent amount of traffic from the site. Its because of the submission process. You can only put two articles in a queue which means you have to wait a couple of days or weeks before you can submit anymore.
There are many more Article Directories to choose from and with the Internet becoming more Niche related I think you will see a surge in niche related Article Directories start to appear. However if your looking for more general Article Directories then these are some of the main ones that you can use. These Article Directories are all free to join and in some cases like Article City you don’t have to register. Article City allows you to simply add your article by filling in a couple of details such as an E-mail address and username, although this may sound perfect I do often question the traffic that I receive from Article City. However I do urge you to give all of the above Article Directories a try as the traffic and effectiveness of each will differ due to writing styles and writing subjects.
Tip If your stuck on a catergory to place your article in, just do a quick search within the directory to find where others are putting their articles.
If your website is focusing on a very focused niche and you can’t find the catergory in the Article Directories listed above then you may be better of searching on Google to find more relevant directories where you will be able to draw more targeted traffic to your website. One thing I would expect to see if you do decide to go with the niche directory is that traffic may not be as high as it would be with the general directories, this is only because your on a niche article directory and although it may seem like a bad thing the conversion to subscribers or purchasing products may be much higher.
Ezine Articles
How to maximise traffic through Ezine articles
If your new to Article marketing then your going to want to get used to Ezine articles interface first. It can be a little confusing to anyone that is using Article Marketing for the first time so it is best to keep using Ezine articles over a week or two. Even if your not submitting articles just browse through the catergories (especially the catergory you will be concentrating on) and throughout the Ezine articles website to get used to it.
I am going to give you several tips for maximising traffic through Ezine articles, ones that I have been using for several months now.
- Analyse how many views an article receives - A great point about Ezine articles is that they clearly show how many views each article receives which is very useful to Article Marketers who are new in the field. This is a great indicator as to how popular a certain catergory is and whether there are any niches of that catergory that are more popular than others. With this information at your disposal you can also use the second tip and this tip together to analyse how much traffic the main article in that catergory receives, again an indicator of how popular a catergory is.
- Browse through the “Most Viewed section of your Catergory” - Now this may seem a little straight forward and obvious but I will bet you that many people who use Ezine Articles for Article Marketing won’t of realised or just won’t of used the Most viewed section at all. You can find this section by selecting your catergory from the home page then randomly clicking on any article within your catergory then scrolling down till you find three sections at the bottom each with 15 links in. The middle section is the most viewed of your chosen catergory. With this you are able to figure out which articles in your catergory are most popular and you can analyse whether there is any sort of pattern in either the subject, Author or another relation.
- Browse through the “Most Published section of your Catergory” - Found underneath the Most Viewed section you will find the Most Published section now I don’t believe this is as useful as this only tells you which is most popular towards other article writers/publishers. However you have to consider that other Article Marketers are going to use your article as well as other experienced publishers and writers so they would only pick the best quality article or most information perhaps. With this information you can again look for a trend in either relevancy towards each other or in any other aspect.
- Check out competitors - Whether your using Article Marketing to increase traffic to your blog, build backlinks or to sell products your affiliated with. You can check out articles within your catergory and their links that they add to the article. More often than not they link to a blog which they own or an Affiliate site they own. You can check to see whether your competition is using Article Marketing to increase their traffic and search engine rankings.
When it comes to Article Marketing and researching I think it is up to you to do as much research as possible. There is endless amounts of information on Article Directories to allow you to come to a well thought out decision about whether to enter a market, write about a certain topic or to spend time promoting a certain topic. At the end of the day though, if you don’t want to put in the time to research your market then you may as well give up before you have started.
Article marketing can be easy, people do have luck however to ensure you succeed with every single article you need to put in the time to research and analyse.
I hope you enjoyed the article today, I have another 5 chapters of this series left. Next week’s I will be discussing Keyword Research for Article Marketing which takes several techniques from SEO and combines them with other more article marketing specific techniques.
Lastly, I am interesting in knowing which Article Directory you prefer? Which Article Directory is your favourite?

[...] Chapter 2:Ezine Articles Explained - Where to submit your Articles? [...]
I know there is not alot out there but i found a new website that has reports, free seo tools, seo tips, worksheets and all kinds of helpful SEO training for members. It is apparently free for a short time and might help you with that
Great article, I also post my Articles on whynotad, its a free online advertising site, where you can post almost anything, and your articles show up on google in a day or so.
I’m not a big fan of submitting articles to lots of directories, but I have my own top of them.
Of course, the powerful EzineArticles is on the first position, but I also sometimes use Buzzle and ArticleDashboard.
Oh yeah, and rarely ArticleBase.
They all seem to rank pretty well, but AB has “nofollow” on all links, which is useless for SEO purposes…
Steve B.
ezinearticles is a good one to submit our articles …
i do not forget to submit to those article directories mentioned above … excapt Buzzle .. but now will submit to buzzle too
Posting your articles on your blog and on article directories could potentially drive duplicate content so be careful.
very excelent tips..
Why does everyone still have such a problem understanding the “duplicate content” issue. It’s only about duplicate content on the same domain. In other words, don’t use the same article on more than one page of your website.
It would make things so much easier for everyone if folks would simply go to Google and see what they actually have to say about the issue. i guess it’s just easier to keep regurgitating the same drivel and look like an authority on the issue because that doesn’t take any work. UGH!
A great resource to learn Article and its attricutes
I’m considering article marketing. This is a very basic question. Is there any issue with submitting the same article to all of the article directories above? For example, will Ezine Articles accept my article if it is listed in other article directories?
I’m just starting out on this article martketing too. Don’t think you should use the same articles in more than one directory, becuase you need unique content (rewriting the article is fine). I’m going to try ezinearticles.com first, as it seems the best (best PR)
Thanks for the guide. I’m looking forward to having my own online internet business.
Go Articles
Realistically speaking, how many links should one assume they will receive if they submit their article to 10 of the best article sites?
I’ve had some luck with ezine articles, but I get more mileage out of pr.com. They get ranked right away and some even have some page rank. I’m new to ezine, but don’t like the limit in anchor text.
ezine is definatly the best place to publish article as the top noch article directory
