After reading what begun as a contest between Pat Flynn and Tyrone Shum has turned in to an epic battle and challenge which interests many experienced and semi-experienced online marketers, and of course me. I have just been accepted to compete in the Niche Site Duel – a competition which challenges you to choose the most profitable niche, design and create the highest converting website, choose the right monetization method and to convert your visitors.

Whilst competing I will keep a journey of my progress which I will be updating several times a week. I will be 100% clear cut with everyone about everything and I will even reveal the niche which I am competing in and the keywords I am trying to rank for. You can follow and track my progress throughout the Niche Site duel and you can read and see how I will compete effectively and profitably.

The Strategy I intend to use:

Research, with the clear-cut honesty that is requested from every contestant I can analyse and interpret my competitors success and their overall drive and goal. This is an important point for every marketer, you must always keep an eye on your competitors no matter how small or big they maybe.

The research I do will enable me to foresee the exact type of niche I would need to choose, the type of competition I would need to target, the ways of monetizing I could use and the type of strategy I could implement.

I will then start with my keyword research, being the most important part of choosing a niche I would never suggest anyone to cut this process short. I will then progress to slicing the keyword research data down to a smaller size and to analyse the rest. I will eventually have 5 to 10 keywords left to analyse in depth from the amount of competition, the amount of daily traffic predicted as top search engine result and the predicted monthly income through Google Adsense.

I will proceed with this competition using the following tools to help me along the way:

1. Market Samurai

2. The Best Spinner

3. WordPress

4. Aweber

These tools & software will come in handy doing most of my jobs and will make the challenge much easier.

I will be choosing my niche over the next couple of days using Market Samurai as my main tool for keyword research and niche hunting! After I have found my niche, registered my domain name and set the website up I will write part 2 of the Niche Site Duel.

Please wish me luck and if anyone else wants to know how to participate or needs any help at all please send me a message.

The ninth part of the Bullet Proof Blogging series highlights the 21 key performance marketing networks currently available to Internet marketers and web based companies world wide. These have been given priority within this exclusive list in accordance to their clientel, customer support, ease to use their interface and performance from both a publishers and advertisers point of view. You may be thinking, well surely you haven’t tested them all out? Well that would be true, however I have used and do use the majority through the company I work for and for my personal projects. So here you are, remember they are not in order of importance/rank.

Affiliate Window – Brilliant Interface which they are currently updating, excellent support, easy to use and a large network of both advertisers and publishers.

Media Trust – A top network with impeccable credentials.

Epic Advertising – Brilliant network, fast growing, highly support, great interface, top performing…words cannot describe.

Share A Sale -A fast growing network, which I am currently in talks with about adding an excellent world famous company to.

Commissions Junction – Great Interface, simple to use, a massive array of physical and digital products to promote.

NeverBlue – A brilliant network for those who like cost per lead or cost per action. A massive selection of advertisers with some great conversion rates.

Clickbank – A well known digital marketplace for both affiliates and vendors. If you haven’t yet signed up to Clickbank, nows the time to do so.

Plimus – Similar to Clickbank in that it hosts its self to publisher and affiliates of the digital world. However a much smoother interface and some exceptionally fancy customisation abilities for your payment pages, sure to increase your conversions.

Clickbooth – Brilliant support and good guideance from day one. Whether your a publisher or advertiser a great company to start with. Voted top 10 network in 2010.

Link Share – A dedicated network owned by a Japanese company, respectful, supportive, good communication and overall a smooth running network.

Click2Sell – A slightly small network with a good support team, good interface, good products and good sales funnel.

CX Digital Media – A brilliant two-tier network with a massive if not the biggest pull of US traffic out of the networks in the list.

Max Bounty – A clean, refreshing website, a beautifully laid out interface. Although quite a small network it has a lot of big affiliates and big advertisers.

Revenue Street -A small but growing network and a sister to The Media Crew, definitely one to watch.

Market Leverage – I’ve used these a little bit and found the interface to be lacking some what however their support was excellent and the product options for promotion were great.

Advertising – Bold claims from Advertising to have over 2 billion impressions a day. Worth looking in to since it holds over 70 of comscores top 100 sites.

Please share the Bullet Proof Blogging series with your friends and don’t forget to social stamp this page.

In spite of what you’ve been lead to believe, there are really ONLY 2 ways to get traffic. Yeah, I know…everybody talks about all these different traffic generation methods and if I listed them that list would be a mile long. But the truth is, there are only 2 ways to get traffic. Scratching your head trying to figure out what they are? Well, relax. I’m going to tell you. Here they are.

1. Pay for it.
2. Don’t pay for it.

That’s it folks. In spite of what you’ve been told, when it all boils down to the basics, those are the ONLY 2 ways to generate traffic.

Okay, if the above sounds like a duh statement and you’re wondering where I’m going with this, hang in there because it’s all going to become very clear very soon.

To understand where I’m coming from, you need to understand basic human nature…especially when it comes to running your own home business. Most successful people (I said most) are working good jobs and would never entertain the notion of running their own home business. Truth is, had I not lost MY job, I’d NEVER be doing this. And I had a damn good job, though not as good as the one I had now. Still, a home business would have been the furthest thing from my mind.

No, the typical home business person is the poor guy who has lost his job or never had one. Most of these people are dead broke or close to it. I know because I run into them every single day of the week. When you have a list in the thousands, you get a sense for these things.

So when these people start working on their business and it comes time to actually try to generate traffic to their site (yep, you know where I’m going now don’t you) what do you think is the FIRST question they ask?

“Can you tell me any FREE ways to generate traffic?”

They don’t have money to pay for advertising. They just about have enough money to pay for their web hosting and domain. If you think I’m kidding, I’m not. So starting a PPC campaign or doing a media buy (even if for just $20) is out of the question.

Well, if you’re not going to pay for immediate traffic, then the only option left to you is to NOT pay for traffic, or, to be more specific, generate it manually over time.

Those are your choices folks. There is nothing else.

Now, having said that, there are numerous methods for generating traffic over time. The problem is finding the ones that are most productive for YOUR business. And make no mistake about it, some methods work great for one business but totally SUCK for other businesses.

Thus, the reason why I have decided to start a series on traffic generation using totally free methods. We’re going to examine EACH one in detail and see which ones work best under which conditions and which ones need to be avoided for certain businesses or at all for that matter. Some free methods just flat out SUCK…PERIOD.

In the next installment of this series, we’re going to start with the letter A.

Can you guess what method that is?

Good…I’ll see you then.

Sincerely,

What is PLR?

PLR is an abbreviation for Private Label Rights and this is content which when written, the writer has given the rights to allow customers/clients the rights to edit/change the content & in most cases re-distribute the content. However it is important to mention with each PLR material you purchase the rights to the content may differ slightly.

For example a collection of PLR material may allow you to re-distribute/re-sell the content to potential prospects however it may not allow you to edit the content & change titles and/or images.

When purchasing PLR whether from a sole website or through a forum, there should always be specific details regarding the private label rights of the content you are purchasing. If not I do suggest contacting the seller to ensure that you understand what rights the seller is attaching to their PLR material.

Difference between PLR & MRR

There is always a lot of confusion between PLR & MRR at least once a week I see someone on Warrior forum asking what the difference is between PLR & MRR. Therefore, once and for all I am going to answer it now.

PLR as explained above is Private label rights material that the creator has given you the rights to edit/change content/re-sell/giveaway and much more but as I highlighted above always read the specific rights of the content your purchasing as it always varies.

MRR is the abbreviation for Master resale rights and generally speaking with MRR material you cannot claim the material to be your own creation nor can you edit/change the MRR material. However like PLR products you can sell the material to the end user, but this is where it differs. With MRR material you can sell the material to the customer with PLR rights to edit/change or re-distribute the content to another customer this being the end user. Also you may find that with some MRR material there is a restriction on the price you can resell the material for, usually a minimum to ensure a certain level of demand/supply is assured.

There are various other restrictions on PLR and MRR but as I pointed out earlier, the restrictions that maybe attached to the PLR and MRR material will differ from each seller.

Typical PLR Restrictions

[YES] Can be given away.
[YES] Can be packaged.
[YES] Can be offered as a bonus.
[YES] Can be added to paid membership sites
[YES] Can be added to free membership sites
[YES] Can be offered through auction sites
[YES] Can sell Resale Rights
[YES] Can sell Master Resale Rights
[NO] Can Be Edited Completely and Your Name Put on it.
[NO] Can be used as web, blog, newsletter content
[NO] Can be broken down into smaller articles
[NO] Can be used for eCourse or autoresponder series
[NO] Can sell Private Label Rights

These are typically the type of restrictions you will find with PLR material. Overall as mentioned earlier, just check before you purchase PLR or MRR, ask the seller or look for a specific restrictions page within the PLR/MRR website.

Video Marketing Through YouTube

First things first, let’s get one thing out of the way – videos are the future.

It’s important to realize that now is the time to learn the power of videos. They are picking up speed ridiculously fast and it won’t be long until every internet marketer and his grandma are trying to monetize using video content.

However, also remember this, that if you provide quality videos with top notch content you’ll never have to fear a lack of audience. If one thing is certain it’s that there is a demand for good entertainment, information and performance.

This guide isn’t about how to create a video. This is what to do with the video once you have it. For those of you wondering how to create videos let me put things in perspective.

The only reason you would want to learn how to make videos is if it’s up your alley (you enjoy presenting). Otherwise you’ll most likely find it a painfully daunting task. If this is the case remember that a good internet marketer always outsources work to save themselves

· Time

· Effort

· Money

When outsourcing your videos make sure you see some samples beforehand, voice is very important. Should be calm, relaxed and emotive.

So I’ve Got My Video!

Congratulations, the next step is picking some keywords to rank and optimize your video for. Aim for three or two word keyword.

When you’re picking your keywords look around on Google because you’ll eventually want to get a Google box (will pull in a lot more traffic). See if there are any videos all ready ranked, with enough backlinks and the right strategy (keep reading for more info on this you can take their spots.

Great, now that you’ve finished the keyword research you’re going to want to change the video file name (before you upload to youtube) to the keyword that you wanna rank for, you’ll find that this alone will help you with the ranking process.

Optimizing Your Video

Once you start uploading your video you’ll be given an optimization page. You’ll have to fill out a Title, Description and keywords. Let’s talk about the best way to optimize each of these areas.

Title: It’s important to put your main keyword at the front of your video, with a title (and secondary keyword if possible) following suite

Example: Video Marketing – What You NEED To Know

Formula: [Keyword] – [Catchy Title + Secondary Keyword (If Possible) ]

This will tell YouTube and Google that you’re content oriented towards those keywords. Also if possible, try to have the keywords spoken within the first bit of the video. Sources have reported that voice technology is all ready being used to identify video content.

Description: The first thing you’re going to want in your description is a link to your website, make sure that the link is short (http://YourSite.com) and that all words in your website are capitalized. Next write a short blurb about what they’ll find, make sure you incorporate your main keyword within the first few words.

Keep writing, think of this as content for your video, don’t hesitate to keep writing (paste an article, this seems to help) using your keywords and inserting link (where necessary).

Keywords: Finally you’ll have the keywords, for YouTube you’ll have to put quotations around the keyword phrases and spaces in between. When entering keywords make sure you try variations of the same keyword phrase but with characters in between,

Example: “video marketing” “video-marketing” “what is video marketing” “what is VM?” “VM”

You want to cover as many keywords as possible. A great way to find the top keywords in your niche is to view the top 5 videos and write down keywords that they feature. Then combine them all and you’ll have some killer keywords.

However research your own first to cross reference for best results.

Your Video Is Uploaded

Now that your video is uploaded hopefully filled with yummy keywords that you’ve picked out. The next step is not to just let it sit and mellow but to start a very subtly and powerful ranking process.

The key here is to keep repeating this until your video has taken over the #1 in YouTube and Google, make sure you don’t over do it, follow the time frames specified here (or mess around at your own risk, be an entrepreneur! But don’t get sandboxed .

Alternate between 30 days for some and 90 days for others. I would suggest longer for your main link as it will appear more natural because all of the surrounding links will steadily be gaining power for 30 days, then the main link will still have juice trickling in long after they are done.

5. This is an optional step but one that I always take. One of the ranking factors in videos is their views and whether they’re being found or not. To just generate tons of views is difficult which is why I actually use a service on all my videos to send an initial burst of traffic.

This helps tremendously with the ranking process.

That’s it for the ranking process. Keep this up and treat every article, lens and property that you make with dignity and respect, you only have to make ONE per day and then social bookmark it (and ping it aswell), so don’t forget to add pictures (with proper keywords), videos (also with keywords) and to link to a major website apart from yours.

How To Naturally Pull In Views

While you’re waiting for the SEO process you might get bored and start wishing you had some activity. The great thing is that the YouTube community is pretty responsive.

My suggestion is to start commenting on niche related videos. But before you start commenting on everything you see do one thing first. In your channel set it up so that the video you want promoted is set to auto play everytime somebody loads up your channel.

We will be directing people to your channel with the desired video being featured because that will entice them to subscribe, comment and befriend your profile more.

When you’re looking for niche related videos just comment on the related videos that pop up with yours. A small note of warning;

make sure that you leave the video on until it’s over otherwise YouTube will sense you are posting too many comments too fast and your comment abilities will be temporarily suspended.

So when it comes to comments remember as with many other hobbies: use but don’t abuse.

Also make sure your comments are relevant to the video, be honest, truthful and informative when possible. Don’t push people to check out your videos but it’s all right to mention it every once in a while.

You can comment on more then just videos though, the most effective method I’ve found is to go directly to users profiles and to subscribe, friend request them and then leave a comment there complimenting their content and page.

If you leave a nice enough comment (add more details but base it around a compliment, because people love being complimented!) you can promote your page on their site, an example of a post would be;

Hey Jim,

I checked out some of your videos and I’m impressed by the level of professionalism you bring to the table.

You should come check out some of my videos by the way, I also do a lot of stuff in the ‘your market keyword’ area.

-Sam.

A simple example of all it takes to generate some clicks towards your profile and another subscriber + friend (added naturally), believeme, social intereaction plays a HUGE part in the authority indexing at YouTube.

The more videos you add and the more you interact with the community the more you will start coming up in the searches. You will rarely see an account with just one video which is super popular, most often they will have multiple.

So don’t get discouraged if your videos don’t instantly pop up. Keeping following the ranking plan provided and interacting with the community. Try to upload a new video with original, fresh and quality content at least every two to three days, or if possible daily.

When you reach twenty videos you can slow this down but the ideal is to break 50 and eventually 100, by that time you will have videos which are ranked and practically all the videos you put up will gain both natural and organic views.

As someone who owns a content creation service you can bet that I see TONS of different writing styles. All though I say ‘different’ the truth is that 95% of article writers are the SAME, this statement stands true even for people (not just article writers).

So as a recruiter what I look for is the other 5%, the ones who are unique, creative and fresh. As you can imagine of course, over the months and months that I’ve been interviewing writers I’ve gotten a pretty good sense of what makes an enjoyable article to read.

And if you’re one of those people who thinks that ‘content is content’ you’re wrong. Content is the life line of any blog, website or page. It’s what will retain your visitors and in most cases what brings them there in the first place.

A lot of people think they can get away with half assing the content they put up on their site, and the truth? Yeah they absolutely can, but no matter how you look at it having good content on your site WILL increase your conversions.

Which should be pretty self explanatory.

Why Provide Quality Content?

When you provide people with quality content two things in particular happen, the first is that the reader should be satisfied (because you’ve quenched their thirst for information). Secondly, they’ll trust you, because you are after all, the authority on the subject.

So without a doubt writing quality content is ALWAYS going to be better than some badly written jibber jabber, but the question still stands – what makes good content?

To keep things simple I’ll just briefly outline some of the factors which go into a good article and explain how you can achieve them. You can expect full article on each one of these aspects because they all play an integral part in making your article push, pull and sell.

What You Must Have.

1. Your article MUST have a good title – this means keyword rich and appealing to your prospects because don’t forget that you ARE trying to get people to click.

2. Formatting! Don’t just make one big block of text, add headings, subheadings, lists, bullet points to help get your point across. Think of it like this, formatting is making your article look as good as it is.

3. Know what you’re writing about. Provide quality content, do the research beforehand if you have absolutely no clue. Also don’t hesitate to provide your BEST content, this will only strengthen the relationship between you and prospect and push them to buy even more.

4. Stay on track and to the point, don’t dwell too far from the topic. Keep your articles real – that means NO filler. People don’t like to waste their time and you shouldn’t waste yours either!

5. White space. This is a big one, it’s part of formatting but deserves mention all on it’s own. DON’T have long paragraphs, 2-3 sentences per point MAX. The more white space people see, the more calming and relaxing it is to read (proven).

There are a TON of other points to consider but science has proven that the most people can ingest at once is 3 points, I’ve given you 5, hopefully you’re not making all these mistakes but pick at least 3 and write an article right now implementing them.

Keep On Writing!

Remember that it takes practice to write a good article. It will take some time before you find your ‘voice’ but once you do you’ll start writing faster, better and more naturally. So keep writing (at least once a day) and use these techniques (where applicable).

Hopefully this helps you guys grasp the general idea of how to write an article, make sure you check out our other posts which dive further down into article writing, marketing and syndication. Take care!

Traffic Generation: Can Social Bookmarking Help?

You have probably heard a lot of talk about social bookmarking over the past 12 months. It has been said that social bookmarking can help increase traffic and generate links to websites however we are going to explain exactly what social bookmarking is and how it can help if at all.

What is Social Bookmarking?

Social bookmarking is a public list of favourite websites which are open to the public display. They are submitted and featured on social bookmarking websites and an example of this would be Stumbleupon or Digg.

When a site is featured on a social bookmarking website it is available for any other person to view and to interact with that website. It is basically like a search engine just without so much trash.

With social bookmarking websites you only get to view websites which other people have deemed interesting enough to bookmark them. This instantly cuts out 10% of the garbage on the internet today. Generally speaking its real people who bookmark these websites however as with every traffic generating method on the internet there are ways that it is exploited or taken advantage of.

Using robots or automated software to bookmark certain websites across a whole array of social bookmarking websites is a popular method. You can also ask friends, workers, employees to create accounts and to bookmark the websites as well.

The more a website is bookmarked the more popular it will become, since it will rise to the top of a certain category or area within that social bookmarking website the chances of people viewing that website will increase. For example, if I was to bookmark a legit site selling iphones for half the price, then you would probably receive an instant flurry of people viewing the website, a couple would purchase and then bookmark the website, as more and more people realise its legit and bookmark the website for others to view it slowly but surely becomes more and more popular. Many people bookmark websites for reference and ease of use as they can come back to that website later on.

Social bookmarking is a sort of voting system whereby people bookmark (vote) for sites that they enjoy or find useful. After they have bookmarked (voted) for that website it moves up in the system and has a higher chance of being viewed by more people.

How do you get started?

If you do a search for social bookmarking websites on Google you will find a massive array of choices. Go to each website and register (its free), once you have activated your account then start listing your websites. One word of warning though is to not focus on trying to just get one website viewed lots, also bookmark websites of interest to you in every market.

In many cases, whilst submitting your websites you will be asked for tags these are similar to keywords when posting an article to a website or setting up a website. The tags you choose should relate to the website you are trying to submit. For example if the website your trying to submit is about Iphones then some keywords would be “Cheap Iphones”, “Iphone Applications”. Many sites will also give you the option to write a short description about the website. I recommend writing a description whilst using the tags to improve your description.

Building Popularity

As with everything worth doing, building popularity will take time however when done properly the benefits can far outweigh the time spent.

I suggest starting with one bookmarking website and one webpage. An example would be using Stumbleupon as the chosen social bookmarking website and a webpage would be perhaps a newsletter opts in page or a squeeze page so that you can build your lists.

I would also recommend adding a link back to the bookmarking page from your webpage so that visitors also have the chance to bookmark your website and therefore increasing your authority.

After you have done this it is time to move on to a new social bookmarking website and do the same again with another web page and another social bookmarking website. Set up another account and go over the process again. The idea of using different social bookmarking websites is to help spread your website throughout the Internet and to help increase the amount of different links you have directed back to your website.

As a final note I think it is important to mention that you should not spam websites and that you should only bookmark and promote useful content. Also don’t concentrate on just bookmarking one website bookmark a variety of websites to ensure you don’t get your account banned.
