Article Marketing Tips – Part Of The Plan

Posted by Steven Wagenheim on September 09, 2010 in Article Marketing, General, Marketing Articles

Do you remember Dan Fogelberg’s “Part Of The Plan” from back in the mid 70s? Wasn’t that a great song? Anyway, article marketing, contrary to what a lot of people will teach you, should also be just part of the plan. By itself it’s fine. However, if you want to get the most out of it, article marketing should be part of a combined effort in getting traffic to your site. This article is going to cover a general outline on just how to do this. I think you will find this interesting reading.

Too many article marketers subscribe to the “Bum Marketing” school of thought. Now don’t get me wrong, Bum Marketing is a fine concept and Travis Sago is a great guy. However, it is not the be all and end all of article marketing. It is just a stepping stone to bigger and better thing. There are a few things I would add to your Bum Marketing arsenal if that is indeed the path you’re following. I think these few things will help a lot.

For starters, write article series, similar to what I am doing at this blog. Write as many articles in the series as you can but try to write at least 8 to 10. Then, what you want to do is take this series and turn it into a PDF that you’re going to give away. You might want to build a list through this giveaway that’s targeted to the specific problem your product solves.

You might also want to take that PDF and upload it to several of the free download directories. Make sure your affiliate or product links (if it’s your own product) are embedded in the PDF itself so that you can make some sales off the downloads. I know you’re probably tempted to want to sell the book, especially if it’s pretty long, but don’t. Give it away. If the book is REALLY good, prospects will wonder how good your paid product is.

Another thing you will want to do is take those articles and turn them into videos. You can do this one of two ways. If you feel really comfortable in front of the camera, make videos of yourself speaking on the topic. You will want to get a teleprompter unless you have a really good memory and can speak off the cuff.

If you aren’t good in front of the camera, then what you will want to do is take the articles and turn them into Powerpoint presentations. This will make it much easier during the editing process should you make any mistakes. I recommend getting Camtasia for video editing. But if you can’t afford Camtasia, Camstudio will work fine for Powerpoint presentations.

After the videos are completed, you want to upload them to as many video sites as you can, starting with YouTube. You’ll probably get the most traffic from there IF you do the following:

Take the video and post it as a video response to a video in the same niche that has the most views in that niche for those keywords. This should give you a big boost in the views department.

These are just a few basic things you should be doing to supplement your article marketing routine.

Give them a shot. You might be surprised by the results.

To YOUR Success,
