Affiliate Article Marketing Explained
Well guys, this is the last chapter of our 7 steps to article marketing I have had a lot of fun writing the series and I do hope you have enjoyed reading each chapter. The last chapter takes a look at article marketing from a different angle, using article marketing as a technique of affiliate marketing. We shall be explaining how affiliate article marketing differs from normal article marketing and what you can do to maximise those conversions from readers to clicks to sales. However first we need to distinguish exactly what affiliate marketing is.
What is Affiliate Marketing?
Affiliate marketing is a part of Internet marketing which allows people to promote other peoples products and gain a reward for directing a customer to the publishers website. The reward is also most commonly known as commission and generally comes in between 50%-75% of the overall price of the product sold. It is a method of increasing sales whilst ensuring that you are still profiting as the publisher/producer of the product/service. There are several ways you can find products to promote and one of the most popular retailers is Clickbank.
If your wondering why someone would want to put all that effort into promoting someone elses product then take a look at this simple example of the commission you could receive for your efforts.
Affiliate Marketing Example
You start to promote a product that sells for $100 and it has a commission of 50% which is VERY common within Clickbank. You use free techniques to promote the product (one being article marketing) and make a sale within the first week of promoting the product. Within the first week you spend 3 hours setting your site up and promoting the product, spend $7.99 on a domain and $5 on hosting.
Taking your costs in to account you are able to make $7.99+$5=$12.99 - $50.00 = $37.01 profit.
This being said, obviously to create more than one sale you may need to do more promotion however you could just leave that site and move on, hoping that you will make another sale in the future.
Affiliate marketing is a lot about timing and tactics, what I mean by this is if you find out about a product before its been launched you are then able to register a keyword rich domain name and start promoting the product and your website before anyone else even knows about it.
Anyways, lets move on now before I cover every other article I have waiting to be written.
Affiliate Article Marketing
I hope that now you understand what Affiliate marketing is if not then perhaps I need a slap. Next I want to talk more closely about article marketing and the concept of marketing in the article directories to promote a product your an affiliate of.
As you are aware article marketing is a free marketing technique, the reason it is so popular is because of the two benefits it can give, these being the traffic and the backlinks. This is why so many affiliate marketers use article marketing as a key strategy to increase traffic and sales.
Affiliate websites are often one page websites called landing pages because the customer lands on that page and then is directed to another page (the sales page). Therefore the on page optimisation strength of such sites are generally not that good and the internal link structure is almost none existent therefore it is very important to build inbound links from external websites to increase your websites strength in the search engines. Article marketing is a great way of doing this, as we mentioned earlier you can build backlinks and increase traffic using a simple and free technique.
Previously we have covered how to perform keyword research for article marketing and how to write an article for article marketing purposes so today I just want to talk about the techniques and tricks you use when article marketing for an affiliate website.
How to perform Article Marketing for an Affiliate Website?
Generally articles written for affiliate marketing purposes are written from a product review point or a product information/scam point. The one I advise is the product review article, I recommend you make the article 400 words or longer (including the resource box) and that you highlight the positive points of the product through a good body structure. Such as using bullet points or number lists and bolding text to highlight important parts.
The product review needs to interest the reader, it does not need to sell the product to the reader, thats what the sales page is for. Instead it needs to get the readers interest, enough so they will click through to your website and then from their to the sales page.
Overall when writing articles for affiliate marketing it is important to write a clearn and concise body which weaves with the resource box so that you can promote the product in the resource box and make it look like it is still a part of the article. It is also important to entice the reader to take action, if there is an incentive for purchasing the product or clicking through to your website then add it if there isn’t then perhaps add one.
Ensure that your anchor text is your keyword and make each link a different anchor text or even better a different website. If your focusing on article marketing for your affiliate marketing website then why not create two sites and promote both of them in the same article, you have two links so why not use them both.
I hope you enjoyed this article and found it useful, please send to your friends and if you have any comments write them below.
I am interested to hear anyone elses experience with article marketing, thanks.
