7 Steps to Improve Your E-mail Marketing

Email marketing is becoming very popular within the world of Internet marketing since it has been proven that conversions are generally higher after you establish a relationship with those potential customers. However it is critical that you optimise your email marketing campaign to take full advantage of this very effective marketing process. When developing your next email marketing campaign consider these guidelines below.

  1. Your Email List

It is important that you create a list from scratch or at least to purchase an email list from a trusted source and one which has proven to have collected the email list using legitmate and ethical strategies which include a double opt in option for those subscribers. Are the subscribers recent subscribers and are they targeted to the market you are selling to.

2. Your Subject Line

A very tricky and skilled task is getting your subscribers to open your email message which depends entirely on a one line of text within their email inbox. You have one chance to catch the subscribers interest and entice them to click open the email. It is paramount that you get your subscribers to open your email messages. You can test which email subject line works best by split testing with your email lists by segregating your email lists in to two or three different sections. With each section you can send the same email message but with different subject lines and analyse the response rate and click rate with each group.

3.  Your Sender Information

When creating your email messages it is important that you add simple yet informative sender information so that your email subscribers know who the email is from. Try using an email address which includes the domain name to which they would have subscribed to your newsletter through, you can also add your name if they are familiar with this.

4. Track your Results

To ensure you can improve your conversion rates you need to track your results. This includes things like how many people have opened the email, how many people clicked the links within the email and so on. Depending on what autoresponder you are using this can be an easy or difficult task. Using software such as Aweber this can be done very easily, as they provide statistics on pretty much everything.

5. Give Subscribers a Choice to Unsubscribe

Whenever you are building an email list it is always important to make sure that you give subscribers a choice to unsubscribe each and every time that you email them. The Can-Spa m act of 2003 requires that each email gives clear directions to the subscriber of how to unsubscribe if they choose to.

6. Don’t get the dredded red X

It is very important when adding images to an email to make sure that these images have been correctly formatted. Not only this but that the images include alt tags and links if needed. The alt tags help email software to realise what the images are and helps to not block these images.

7. Test, Test and Test some more

Last but not least it is important to test each email before sending it out ot your list. This helps to make sure there are no problems especially those listed above.  Test and test some more, analyse the results you get from your email campaigns, tweak them and then send them again to another selection of people. Email marketing is not hard it just takes time to find the correct formula for your email list. Good luck.
