The sixth edition of Bullet Proof Blogging brings me to talk about advertising strategies for your blog. Today, I am going to list 21 ways to promote and market your blog from birth. I hope you enjoy this weeks bullet proof blogging article and find it useful and effective for your blog.

  • Search Engine Optimisation - Increase your rankings, increase visibility, increase traffic.

  • Social Media Marketing (SMM) - A good way of building traffic short term and building backlinks.
  • Forum Marketing - Using Forum signatures or link dropping (dropping your link in a related thread).
  • E-mail marketing - Marketing your website to an existing E-mail list.
  • Guest posts - Writing unique articles for other people’s blogs.

  • Add your website to Google’s local Business Search.
  • Claim your blog on Technorati. (Technorati)
  • Find blog ranking lists for your Market and E-mail the owner to ask to add your blog.
  • Submit your site to web directories (Directory List)
  • Create a Viral Marketing Campaign
  • Sponsor a Wordpress theme or software.
  • Write an Ebook and give it away free or as an incentive to subscribe to your blog.
  • Create a competition and offer a prize.
  • Create a Buzz within your market.
  • Create a redirecting 404 error page that sends the user to another page.

    I think you should include contests in the list. They are great way to get advertised by contest participants.

    Have you advertised your blog or site in the local paper? How did that work out? I’m curious to see the conversion rate for a print to online campaign for blogs, it will be interesting to see if the two media types can work together for the benefit of both parties.

    21 good way. I only don’t know if doing AdWords is a good way. Blogs should be visited by their content, not paying.
